Russia aggravates entry conditions for Turkish citizens

Since 2010, when the visa free agreement between Russia and Turkey was made, the entry for Turkish citizens didn’t cause problems. Up to now they can stay in Russia for 30 days without a visa. However, the current tense political situation between Russia and Turkey leads to more stringent entry conditions for Turkish citizens coming to Russia.
Therefore, it is recommended to have documents that prove the reason of the visit at hand. This could be a letter from the inviting Russian person or company as well as a confirmation of the hotel in Russia. Additionally, the following documents should always be carried along during the stay in Russia: passport, migration card, migration registration coupon and work permit (if applicable).

On 27th November 2015 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, has announced that from 1st January 2016 onwards the visa-free entry for Turkish citizens won’t be possible anymore. However, up to that date the visa-free conditions will still apply, allowing Turkish citizens to stay up to 30 days in Russia without a visa.
