Streamlined Travel Entry Program for German Citizens

After speculation as to the specifics of the bilateral agreement between the United States and Germany, it was announced on January 15, 2015 that citizens of Germany are now entitled for the United States „Global Entry“ program.
This program is administrated by the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and valid at 42 airports and 12 pre-clearance locations within the United States. It allows for expedited clearance for pre-approved, low risk travelers. Entitled travelers go to automated Kiosks, present their identification documents, scan their fingerprints and make a customs declaration.
Before German nationalities were added to the list of those eligible, the program was exclusively reserved for U.S. Citizens and Mexican nationals. The only drawback is that an immense volume of personal data has to be disclosed and it includes an interview to be hold.
